This volume, published on the occasion of the exhibition “Costruire la Città dell’Uomo. Adriano Olivetti e l’urbanistica” set up in 2001 to celebrate the centenary of Adriano Olivetti’s birth, attempts to summarise the role he played in Italian architectural and urban planning culture between the 1930s and the 1950s. Besides the introduction by Carlo Olmo, it contains contributions by Marcello Fabbri, Franco Ferrarotti, Renzo Zorzi, Giorgio Ciucci, Paolo Scrivano, Patrizia Bonifazio, Paola Di Biagi, Marida Talamona, Fulvio Irace, Antonella Greco and Enrico Valeriani.
