In January 1960, a few weeks before his death and in the midst of the creative impetus, Adriano Olivetti published the first edition of City of Man, his most famous volume destined to become a spiritual testament. The writings and speeches collected in the anthology, now republished in a new, enlarged edition, still convey the intact and very strong civil and, at times, mystical passion that inspired him. What emerges from these pages is not a vague and abstract idea of civil coexistence, but the active and restless search for an authentic City of Man, of a society founded on respect for the values of the spirit, science and the inalienable ideals of justice and dignity, pursued far from all rhetoric, remaining close to the most intimate and at the same time universal core of man.
