So wrote Ignazio Gardella to Adriano Olivetti after agreeing to design the Ivrea factory’s Canteen and Recreation Centre. A place that, Gardella recalls, in Olivetti’s eyes had to be a meeting and rest for workers, and where the quality of architecture had to play a decisive role.
