DESCRIPTION:
“The Great Gatsby” is one of the Strenna editions that Olivetti began producing in 1972 as Christmas gifts: a series of celebrated literary masterpieces, illustrated using specially commissioned drawings by contemporary artists.
In this book, according to his biographer, Andrew Le Vot, Fitzgerald “reflects more clearly than in any of his autobiographical writings the central issues faced by him and his generation… In Gatsby, pervaded as he is by a sense of sin and the fall, Fitzgerald takes upon himself all the weakness and depravity of human nature”.
The illustrations are by Hans Hilmann, one of Germany’s leading graphic designers and illustrators.
