DESCRIPTION:
This publication is one of the Strenna editions that Olivetti began producing in 1972 as Christmas gifts: a series of celebrated literary masterpieces, illustrated using specially commissioned drawings by contemporary artists.
First published between 1893 and 1894 in magazines, the stories told in this volume are set in India, a land dear to Kipling, and focus on the adventures of Mowgli and some jungle animals. Described in an allegorical manner, the characters and events of these tales represent one of the most fascinating sources for understanding the relationship between the West and India at the end of the 19th century, within the phenomenon of Colonialism.
The plates are illustrated by the Uruguayan painter and engraver, Josè Gamarra.
